Sustainable Change was approached by a group from Rochdale – residents, local organisations, activists and councillors – to help them kick start a sustainability strategy for the town. The best opportunity to bring everyone together was in a workshop setting and it was important to get the most out of it. We facilitated the session and used Ketso, an innovative yet ‘light’ tool for working with groups of people, to capture and share the views many. We walked participants through a process that explored what sustainability meant to them and for Rochdale and started to explore action needed to make it happen.
The outline of a plan and a series of priorities were possible within a very short time and without the formalities of PowerPoint and other corporate presentation methods. While we would have loved to have helped further, it was down to them to decide how to take a strategy for Rochdale forward.
